Patient and Public Involvement

For health and social care to fulfil its potential, members of the public should take a substantial role in shaping the care system's development, and patientsand service users should be kept well informed of clinical processes and decisions.

For many reasons, the Government is committed to empowering both individuals and communities so that they can play a greater role in shaping health and social care services. Firslty, citizens have told Government that they want more influence over health and social care services and, seconfly, it is easier for professionals to provide a better service if they understand what the community needs.

People wanting to become formally involved in promoting dignity in their local areas may wish to consider becoming involved with their Local Involvement Network.
