Time To Chat

"Time To Chat" was held at Dudley MBC Sheltered Housing communal site at Roseland House, Dudley, West Midlands. Partnership working with our community access team and local older people we invited people 60+ living alone or having very little social contact to come along and enjoy sharing chatter together.
Cllr David Vickers lead cabinet member for Adult Community & Housing came along and set the ball rolling when he gave the group a large box of chocolate biscuits to enjoy with thier afternoon coffee. Some of our guests indentified themselves for photographic models to be featured on the" health through warmth" leaflets. The pictures all taken by our marketing department, to encourarge more older people to stay warm.
The models stated they felt proud to be featuring on the campaign leaflet and throughly enjoyed the pictures being taken.
At midday everyone enjoyed a healthy jacket potato lunch followed by a less healthy pudding.
In the afternon relaxation and guided imagary sessions took place . Guided imagary prompted the following.
A lady aged 96 years shared the following story with us. She told us she was fed up of being told "your to old to do those kind of things mother". She had been quoted a price by a trades person to remove a branch from a Holly tree she thought the price a little high!!!! She climbed the tree and cut the branch down herself a few days later. Her family couldnt believe she had sawn through the branch and removed it herself. Her parting shot on closing the story " Of course that was two years ago and I was only 94 years old then.
