what would you do - people delaying the care worker leaving.
A home care worker completes all the agreed tasks during a scheduled visit. As they’re about to leave, the person asks for “just one more thing”—to tidy a drawer, water the plants, sort through the post, or rearrange a cupboard.
This happens frequently. The requests aren’t essential to the care plan, but the worker senses the person simply doesn’t want them to leave.
If the worker stays, they’ll be late for other people who also rely on their visit. If they leave on time, it feels as though they’re walking away from someone who needs more than practical care.
How do we balance, compassion for one person with fairness to everyone else waiting for care?
