What would you do Christmas

WWYD. It’s Christmas morning and you’re visiting a client in their own home. You’re running late because several colleagues have called in sick, and your phone keeps buzzing with updates from the office.
The client has dressed up, put decorations out, and says excitedly, “You’re the only person I’ll see today.” They ask if you can stay a little longer and have a cup of tea with them.
You know your next call is already delayed, and staying would put pressure on the rest of the run. At the same time, rushing feels unkind — especially on Christmas Day. What would you do?

Me? I’d say I have to carry on to my next patient… but I would go back after I had finished to have a cuppa with her

Acknowledge your client's feelings of loneliness and her request for more time. Express empathy for her situation I would reccomend social services or volunteer organizations that offer support to the elderly or those alone during the holidays. Search for local authority adult social care services that might have resources.
