WWYD safety - fear - choice.
A resident repeatedly barricades their bedroom door at night - using furniture. When staff ask why, she says she can hear people screaming outside her room and is frightened that someone is going to hurt her.
On several occasions, she has phoned the police because she believes someone is in the home.
Staff are concerned about the risks of a barricaded door and requests she removes the furniture. But the resident becomes extremely saying: You don’t believe me. I need to protect myself.”
What would YOU do?
How do you protect someone without taking away the very thing they believe is keeping them safe?
