WWYD - odour - sensitivity - dignity
A resident has a noticeable odour of urine. Staff have gently asked if they need any help with continence, but the resident insists:
“I’m completely continent. Stop fussing over me.”
The odour continues, but there is no obvious evidence of incontinence. The odour is getting stronger. Staff are concerned there may be an underlying continence or health issue, but don’t want to embarrass or label the person.
How do we raise a potentially sensitive health concern without taking away someone’s dignity, privacy or independence? WWYD
