Dignity Network in Suffolk

Old forum user 20/12/17 Dignity Champions forum

I am looking to start a dignity network within Suffolk in order to share ideas and practice in promoting dignity for the individuals we support, would anyone be interested in joining this network with me?

Hi Andrew.

I live in south east Norfolk (6 miles from Beccles) but know Suffolk well and have links there. It rather depends on where in Suffolk but I am interested. I'm a public governor for the JPUH hospital in Gorleston. Lowestoft, Halesworth and Southwold are in our catchement area. Mike Llywelyn Cox.

That’s brilliant news Andrew. Are you on Facebook. We have an active page. Dignity in action you might want to enquire there.

Andrew, I have not not used it recently, but the 'Champions' section of this website, used to list details of Dignity Champions and there was a break down by region. There are 'profiles' of the champions to read, and if the champion allows it (some do - some do not), you can send an e-mail 'via DiC' - you might try that, as it might allow you to spot [and then ask directly] people close to you, who might be interested. It takes a while to do it, but it might help you (assuming the 'contact champions' facility is still there).

I am aware that Suffolk already has a network that is hosted by the Adult Safeguarding Team and has in the past celebrated carers who have gone the extra mile through the GEM awards. It might be worth giving Julie Martin at Adult Care Services Endeavour House Ipswich, a ring to see what is already happening. I know you may be wanting to do something a bit different, but there may be some useful synergy.
