Being a Dignity Champion - An Update

Old forum user 18/12/18 Dignity Champions forum

Hello everyone,

I thought I would take a minute to share an update on how my first month as a Dignity Champion has gone.
We signed up last month as we were inspired by the community spirit of the campaign.
We are a domiciliary care agency in North Nottinghamshire, providing support to over 100 Service Users.

As a champion I have:

- Created a Dignity in Care training session
- Created an e-learning verision of the training
- Displayed posters from Dignity in Care around Head Office
- Created a 'best practice' handy guide for staff
- Created and shared 'what you should expect from us' document for Service Users and displayed this on our website and Facebook
- Reached out to other champions nearby - without much success!

Next month I am looking at appointing a Dignity in Care mentor to shadow new staff.

95% of our staff have completed the training and it has been hugely beneficial.

If you are a provider in North Notts and would like to join forces for world dignity day next year please get in touch!

Kind regards,

Jasmyne

Compassionate Care Team, Retford.

Hi
I am new in this group but I have already found the information to be very helpful. I wanted to find out if there are Dignity in Care Champions in Trafford or Bolton areas that are willing to share with me on how to effectively implement this good practice?

Debbie Twinn 19/12/18

Wow, I'm really impressed Jasmyne and very keen to connect with another, established Champion in my part of the world, near to London Heathrow who's willing to offer me guidance please.

All offers of support are greatly appreciated :-)

Wow Jasmyne - what a fantastic response to fulfil your role as a truly active champion - thank you. . We have a very active facebook page [Dignity in Action] where you or I can post your article - let people know of the great work you are doing and see if there are other providers who want to join forces in the North Notts area?.
Ben I'm glad you have found the resources on here helpful. There is an active Dignity Champions network in the Manchester Area - Gillian Moncaster who leads the network is on the Dignity in Action Facebook page. Keep up the great work both of you. Jan

This is so inspiring that you have done so much in such a short space of time. Well done you! May we all be as pro-active.

Hi Natalie, please feel free to share it. If you would like me to email you a copy so you can put your own logo on perhaps you could send me your email address - I'm not sure if I can put my email in this post but you could send me yours through our website or Facebook - if you look up Compassionate Care Team Ltd, Retford.
