Students from the local Frederick Gent school spent the day at our home along with their teacher doing nail care, bingo, table top activities & socialising. We doubled the staffing levels so all the residents in the home had extra one to one time, we invited the Mayor to come and release 100 bright yellow balloons into the air with a Dignity Awareness message attached to each one and then she stayed for at least 2 hours talking to each and every resident in the home and sharing many interesting stories! We also invited the reverend from our local church and a representative from Age concern to join us. We set a dignity tree up and continue to ask visitors to write what dignity means to them on a leaf so we can add it to our tree. The local press came to do a photo shoot for the local paper and resident's family came along. We had afternoon drinks including wine & sherry with some fancy nibbles. We also had a special Dignity Action cake made by one of the care staff's mum. There's also a Dignity raffle still on the go! We had an absolutely fabulous time and our activity co-ordinator, Carole, worked so hard to bring it all together and is looking forward to doing it all over again next year! Well done to all, keep spreading the word!! Penny McGuinness, manager for My-Care
