Colour in Your Life!

As February is a very dull month, the residents of Acacia House Nursing Home in Horndean Hampshire, decided to focus on a 'Colour in your Life' theme to celebrate Dignity in Action Day. The lounge walls were decorated with huge card flowers with brightly coloured centres, vibrant new cushions were dotted around and pretty fresh flower arrangements in residents' rooms and around the communal areas made the home smell delicious.
We offered everyone a choice of different coloured bubble baths, new colours in make up and celebrated with a 'yellow' themed lunch when residents scored the food with large cards as in 'Come Dine With Me'.
Everybody had special brightly coloured menus and daffodil posies and all enjoyed a glass of egg flip to fit in with the yellow theme.
After lunch some residents were jopined in a creative activity using brightly coloured tissue paper whilst others had fun taking part in a treasure hunt down the 'yellow brick road' to find a crock of gold at the end of the rainbow.
The staff all joined in by dressing up in casual clothes in a colour of their choice so really supporting the residents.
Colour in Your Life was a very positive experience for everyone and a good way of emphasising how important dignity in care is to all!
