At St Johns' Hoiuse, Sherborne, we arranged a pampering day for our residents. In the morning the ladies (we only have one gentleman resident!) had a hand masage and a manicure. At lunchtime they were presented with a prettily wrapped tub of handcream. Our gentleman resident had a bottle of wine!.

In the afternoon, a special tea was arranged, with residents encouraged to invite elderly friends who live alone to come along.

A display board was also set up, showing pictures from the Dignity Campaign website, together with the poem Crabbit Old Woman and various quotes about how people should be treated.

The local paper came along and took photographs of the day and reported what we were doing and how important it is that people are treated with care and dignity every day of the year, not just on Dignity Action Day.

All in all, it was a very successful day and we shall certainly do something similar next year.
