National Dignity Council members' activities update January 2018

Castle Supported Living decided to have a dignity advent calendar, which each day in December leading up to Christmas being devoted to a small act of kindness, compassion, or respect.  This ranged from smiling, holding a door open, to spending that extra ten minutes with someone, to making a wish come true.  Maybe others could adopt this for February as a way of celebrating Dignity in Action, even if you are not holding an event as such.

Amanda Waring, has continued to promote dignity through her training, speaking and development activities, as well as through her books and films. 

Rekha Elawasparu a Council Trustee promotes dignity in all her activities as a tutor, and as a speaker.

Jan Burns MBE our Chair continues to represent the Council and promote Dignity on a range of committees, including Quality Matters; The Department of Health and Care Quality Commission have published a policy paper on the Quality Matters initiative (pdf) (opens new window). My Home Life; CQC Co-production panel; and is working with the Age Care Channel as a subject matter expert to develop a new training programme. She is also supporting Staffordshire County Council with the development of their forthcoming Dignity Awards

Mike Stone continues his campaign to make sure that those facing that difficult time at the end of their lives are treated with Dignity and Respect.

The Facebook page Dignity in Action and the Discussion Forum on the Dignity in Care website also continue to promote active discussion of issues that champions wish to raise.
