NMC Launches Pre-Registration Nursing Edcuation Questionnaires for Patients and the Public

To make sure that people who are at the receiving end of nursing care can take part in our consultation on pre-registration nursing education, the NMC have developed shorter questionnaires which focus on issues that are particularly relevant to older people, people with dementia, people with learning disabilities and people with mental health problems, as well as their families and carers. These have been developed in partnership with Age Concern & Help the Aged, Alzheimer's Society, Mencap and Rethink.

The questionnaires for older people, people with dementia and people with mental health problems can be accessed as online questionnaires, or as hard copies. The survey for people with learning disabilities and their families and carers is available in easy read format. The closing date for these surveys is 23 April 2010.

There are two sections to the surveys. We start with some very general questions about the skills that nurses need to work with peopel who have particular care needs. You don't need any knowledge of nursing to answer these questions. The second section provides more detail about knowledge and skills that nurses need by the time they graduate, and does require a bit of reading.

Please use the link below to find out more about the survey, you can alos use the link to complete the survey yourself. Please inform others of this shorter questionnaire, you could send the link to colleagues or to this news story.
