Local Healthwatch

We previously encouraged Dignity Champions to get involved with their local Healthwatch.

The aim of local healthwatch is to help people influence, or change, the way that health services and social care are delivered.

Healthwatch are made up of both individuals and community groups who work together in order to bring about an improvement in local health and social care services.

Local Healthwatch are designed to find out what local people think about the healthcare services in their area. Healthwatch also work closely with the people who plan and run local healthcare services in order to develop and improve services. This could involve talking directly to health care professionals about a service that is not currently available, or providing suggestions about how to make existing services better.

If you'd like to know more, here is a helpful website that gives lots of detail about Healthwatch and includes a search facility so you can find the healthwatch that is closest to you.
