How can the web be part of caring for older people?

For as long as Patient Opinion have been using online public feedback about the NHS to transform standards of care, we have been asked when we will do the same for social care. Well, we are taking our first baby steps into this world, with a pilot project exploring how to extend our platform to residential nursing homes and care homes.

Getting online feedback about residential care homes presents both difficulties and opportunities. There are challenges with generating feedback from residents, families and carers, not to mention keeping some of the most vulnerable members of our society safe and confidential - but our years of experience in the world of online feedback is helping us to find good solutions. We are working to create an ethical and useful system of web-based feedback, which helps improve standards of care.

So, Dignity Champions, we need your help! If you work with residential nursing homes and care homes, and want to know how the web can help you better connect with your residents and relatives, or if you just want to know more, please contact Kate Ebbutt from Patient Opinion on 0114 281 6256 or kate.ebbutt@patientopinion.org.uk.
