Dignity Stories
We have also been collecting Dignity Stories and there have been some truly moving stories posted. If you have a story to tell please post it on the page.
These stories show not only the imaginative ways in which our Champions can make individual wishes come true, but also enable us to showcase the benefits of working in Dignified ways for individual experience. It also means that we can challenge those who say, staff don’t have time for Dignity, by giving them examples of how Dignity doesn’t take time, but can really change the life of the individual.
It was good to see a post on the Facebook page which highlighted a local television programme from BBC Norfolk which looked at what happens on a night shift in a care home in Hunstanton. Not only did the programme highlight the good stuff that happens all the time, but the reporter was respectful of both staff and residents, a very positive outcome for all concerned.
Another positive was discovered almost by accident, Great Mystery TV have a section [certainly on Saturdays don’t know about the rest of the week], where they showcase a positive good news story. During the first week of October this was about Coxbench Hall Care Home in Derbyshire, who had developed a cookbook based on the recipes and meals that they residents remembered and loved. It was great to see both staff and residents getting involved in the project. Not sure how you get involved in this initiative with Great TV but maybe we can pursue it and get some more great stories on the TV and let Society know the great things that are happening.
