Combatting malnutrition in care home catering
Malnutrition is a serious health condition that occurs due to the body not getting the correct amount of nutrients for its requirements, which may be due to over-eating, under-eating or a clinical condition that causes malabsorption of nutrients.
It is estimated that, in England, 1.3 million people over the age of 65 are malnourished and it is also a growing issue within care homes with nearly one in four people admitted to a care home being at high risk of malnutrition
