Building The Right Home

NHS England has produced new housing guidance [in partnership with the Local Government Association and the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services], to help commissioners and providers significantly increase housing options to enable people with a learning disability to access the right home and support at the right time.

Building the right home - transforming care for people with a learning disability, autism or both, also support Transforming Care Partnerships, deliver the government's ambition to reduce overreliance on impatient facilities. In particular in sets out that hosing options:-

  • Should be based on individual need and be an integral component of the person centred care and support plan, and
  • Everyone should be offered their own tenancy in settled accommodation or their own home. This can be in small scale supported living schemes or bespoke housing
