Life to Live

Dignity Action Day was celebrated by Whitwood Care by presenting an information day entitled “A Life to Live”. Whitwood Care is a service provider in Castleford, West Yorkshire for people with learning disabilities and provides round the clock care and rehabilitation.
The day was very well attended by service users and staff. The days activities included: information stations and presentations, the key note presentation being entitled: “A Life to Live” which discussed gold standard practice for implementing dignity in care and the Standards we should be aspiring to. We had a presentation highlighting what a dignity champion does followed by a very useful Q & A session.
There was plenty of activity and feedback from service users and staff was very positive. On the strength of this event we are to hold a Dignity in Action study session to promote a more values based way of working and embed this philosophy into our induction training for new staff
“It was a pleasure to see so many people interested and willing to come and see what all the fuss was about!. This event has really brought this issue to the forefront of people’s minds and will do a lot to improve the way we interact with people in our care”
