Memory Book

RMBI Albert Edward

At RMBI Albert Edward we celebrated Dignity in Care day by involving all our residents and staff in both a reminiscence session and one of our carers Jayme Parsons drew a tree which each of our members of staff on duty came and made dignity promises on how they could better improve the quality of care given to our residents. Which they then pinned onto our dignity tree throughout the day.

We had various memorabilia for our reminiscence activity including newspapers, royal scrapbooks etc. One of the most popular questions and answers was what they used their ration books for and where they used them for and where they spent their holidays as children. We are keen to hold a royal reminiscence session closer to the jubilee time to find our where all our residents were on the day of the coronation.

Whilst reading our wartime scrapbook Mrs Bennett who was 9 years old when war broke out remembered she was at home because her sister who was six years older than her got called up for the women’s land army.

We also showcased our dementia life digital reminiscence therapy software to our other residents so they can appreciate the equipment we have available in our dementia support unit.
