Hair-raising!

A local lady was given a welcome, albeit hair-raising, surprise when she was whisked off for a shampoo and set at the local hair salon as a special treat to mark Dignity Action Day (25th February) courtesy of Home Instead Senior Care in Waltham Forest.

The team at Home Instead Senior Care have pledged their continuing support for the national ‘Dignity in Care’ campaign, headed by Dignity Ambassador Sir Michael Parkinson to promote treating people with dignity as a basic human right.

This year’s theme for the day was ‘giving someone the gift of time’ and Home Instead Caregiver Angeline Onyango took the time to accompany Joan from Woodford for her special treat.

Home Instead owner Ben Barraco commented: “Joan really enjoyed having her hair done and it was lovely to hear that she said it made her feel really spoilt. I think it is important to raise awareness of Dignity Action Day to promote the values it represents because we believe that care services must be person centered; people must be treated with respect, as individuals, and provided with the high quality care they deserve.”

Home Instead provide care for adults in their own homes across the area and the company is rapidly building a reputation as one of the UK’s leading at home care providers. Their service is tailored to the needs of individual clients and ranges from companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, post-discharge care, medication reminders, shopping and errands to personal care. The service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
