Leicestershire CareOnLine won the "Innovative Information and Communications Technology" category in the East Midlands Health and Social Care Awards Finals in 2008, for using ICT to improve the quality of life and reduce social isolation among carers, older people and people with disabilities. For example, older people living alone use e-mail to communicate with family and friends abroad.
