Winter Scene Activities
Storytelling, crafting and contributions.
1. Scene Selection & Storytelling
- Begin with a group chat: “What does winter mean to you?”
- Prompt memories of snowy days, holidays, warm drinks, or winter walks.
- Choose a theme together: Winter Woodland, Cosy Village, Festive Funfair, etc.
2. Crafting the Scene
- Use coloured paper, cotton wool, foil, felt, and recycled materials.
- Create elements like:
- Snow-covered trees and cottages
- Animals in scarves (robins, foxes, deer)
- People sledging, building snowmen, or sipping hot chocolate
- Stars, lanterns, or fairy lights
3. Sensory Additions
- Add textures: soft fabrics, cinnamon sticks, pinecones
- Include scents: peppermint, orange peel, cloves
- Play gentle winter music or nature sounds in the background
4. Resident Contributions
- Each resident can make one item for the scene (e.g., a snowman, a tree, a memory tag)
- Add name labels or short quotes: “I remember sledging with my brother in 1947!”
5. Display & Celebration
- Assemble the scene on a communal board or window
- Host a “Winter Reveal” with warm drinks and treats
- Take photos and share with families or on social media (with consent)
