Make Chinese Paper Lanterns
A classic, fuss-free activity with a big visual impact.
Materials:
- Red or gold A4 paper (or printables)
- Scissors
- Glue stick or tape
- Stapler (optional)
- Ribbon or string for hanging
- Optional: stickers, glitter, or Chinese character printouts
Steps:
- Fold the paper in half lengthwise.
This creates the base for cutting slits. - Cut slits along the fold.
Start about 2 cm from the edge and stop 2 cm before the opposite edge. Space slits about 1–2 cm apart. - Unfold the paper.
You’ll see a row of slits down the middle. - Roll the paper into a cylinder.
Bring the short edges together and secure with glue or a staple. - Add a handle.
Use a strip of paper or ribbon and attach it to the top. - Decorate!
