Asala Dharma Day
Asala Dharma Day, also known as Asalha Puja, is a Buddhist festival commemorating the Buddha's first sermon, which introduced the core teachings of the Four Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path. It is the start of the Buddhist period of lent. The purpose is to honour the Buddha's gift of the Dharma (teachings), celebrate the start of Buddhism, and provide a day for Buddhists to reflect on these teachings, deepen their practice, and renew their commitment to the path to inner peace.
Activities for Celebrating Dharma Day
Story Time
Read stories about the Buddha and his teachings. There are many beautiful and simple stories that help us understand the importance of kindness and mindfulness.
Meditation Time
Practice a little bit of meditation. Sit quietly, close your eyes, and take deep breaths. Think about happy and peaceful things. This can help us feel calm and happy.
