Bradford Dignity Champions Network Meeting 27 January 2010
A group of people, brought together by Bradford LINk, will be standing up for the rights of Health and Social Care Users in the District.
Bradford LINk has joined forces with Bradford Metropolitan District Council and Bradford Older People's Alliance (BOPA), to form a Dignity Champions Network. It is in support of the Department of Health's Dignity in Care Campaign.
What will the Dignity Champions Network do?
This group will work towards improving the quality of care people received in Bradford and Airedale. They will meet regularly to talk about the work that is going on in the district and discuss ideas for the future.
Around 50 people are already part of the network, and we are always looking for more members to join.
Bradford LINk Project manager Melvyn Newton says, " This is our new local initiative which is makes up our part of the national Campaign. We aim to make Bradford District a really good place where your care is taken really seriously"
Councillor Dale Smith from Bradford and Metropolitan District Council says, "I congratulate the Scrutiny Committee for helping ensure such a high profile to this important issue. We should all expect to be treated with Dignity throughout our lives but especially as we grow more vulnerable."
Julie Lintern from BOPA said "Aging can be quite undignified, having to ask for help to do tasks that most people take for granted -being treated with absolute dignity whilst receiving that assistance and can make such a difference to the well being of individuals."
